The prep phase is the first of each player's turn. It is skipped during the first round of play, but should on every turn throughout the rest of the game. The main purpose of the prep phase is to ready each card once and determine which actions have been completed.

Rat Edit

Lizard Edit

Beetle Edit

  • Ready each card and stack once. If any face-down cards reach the ready orientation, turn them face-up.
    • If a pheromone, form, or upgrade finishes being built, it remains attached to whichever structure brought it into play.
    • If a structure finishes being morphed, discard all units which assisted with the morph and any counters that were attached to them.
    • If a unit finishes splitting, you may redistribute any resource counters that the original unit was holding, then separate the two cards.
    • If a unit finishes being morphed, you may give it one resource from the units which assisted with the morph. Then discard all of those units and any other counters that were attached to them.
  • Bring ready units out from underneath your Water Pods.

Virus Edit

  • Ready each card and stack once. If any face-down cards reach the ready orientation, turn them face-up.
  • Place two new Maggots next to each Stagnant Reservoir, and one new Maggot next to each Festering Corpse.
  • Turn all Carrier and Corrupted cards face-up.
  • Attach a Carrier card face-down to any units underneath Corrupted structures/siege weapons.
